Privacy Policy

1. Your script never reaches us

This comes first because a tool that invites you to paste an unpublished speech owes you a straight answer. The text you paste into the converter or the pace meter — and the word counts, timings and rates derived from it — is processed entirely inside your own browser by JavaScript running on your device. It is not transmitted to us, not written to any server, and never received by us in any form.

This is not a promise you have to take on trust. The site is a set of static files with no backend to send anything to. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the network tab, and paste a script into any page here: no request carrying your text is made. You may see requests belonging to the advertising and analytics services described in sections 3 and 4 — those load on their own schedule and contain nothing you typed. What you type lives in the page's memory only and disappears when you reload or close the tab.

2. Information we collect

No account, no sign-up, no personal information, and no contact form. We do not ask for your name or email address to use any page on this site. If you choose to email us via the contact page, that message arrives in an ordinary mailbox and is not connected to this website or to anything you typed into it.

3. Cookies and third-party advertising

This site may display third-party advertising, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Users in the EEA and UK may also be shown a consent prompt where required by law. These advertising cookies are set by the ad vendor and are entirely separate from the calculator — no script you paste and no result you produce is available to them.

4. Analytics

We may use privacy-friendly, cookie-free aggregate analytics (for example Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count page views and see which pages are useful. No personally identifying information is collected, and nothing you type into the tools — no text, word counts, timings or measured rates — is ever included in analytics data.

5. Local storage and cookies set by the tools

The calculator and the pace meter set no cookies and write nothing to local storage. Your settings — the pace, the words-per-page divisor, the runs recorded in the meter — are held in the page's memory for as long as the tab is open and are gone after that. Some pages open with a preset word count or slot length; that is written into the page's own markup and reflects the topic of the page, not anything remembered about you.

6. Fonts, images and external requests

The site loads no web fonts, no icon libraries and no third-party scripts of its own. Type is rendered with fonts already installed on your device, which is why the pages look slightly different across operating systems. The only external requests that can occur are the advertising and analytics services described above, when they are enabled.

7. Affiliate disclosure

Some outbound links on this site may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a commission if you buy something through them. This never changes the price you pay, and it never influences a figure on this site: the speaking rates come from a measurement script, and the conversion tables are generated arithmetic. Where a page carries affiliate links we aim to make that clear on the page itself.

8. Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser and every part of this site keeps working, because none of its functionality depends on them. You are equally welcome to use it with an ad blocker. This service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

9. The numbers are arithmetic, not a guarantee

Running times on this site are the result of dividing a word count by a speaking rate. They describe what would happen at that rate; they are not a prediction about your delivery, a promise about your event, or advice about how you should speak. The limits of what the measurement can support are set out on the about page and in full on the speaking rate page.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it. Material changes will be reflected here rather than announced separately.
